My name is Courtney and while I hail from Jersey, I’ve recently found a safe haven in the Midwest. I come from an extraordinarily large family of numerous brothers and sisters. I’ve been writing and reading for longer than I can remember, but it took me a bit to realize that in today’s technological age, you have to market yourself online in order to get ahead.
I have a BA in English Literature and just finished my MA in English Literature at the University of Indianapolis. I think the humanities have a bit of a bad rap in the academic world, but I wouldn’t have taken a more practical major if you paid me to. I adore literature, savor post-modernist works, and full-heartedly believe everyone should read Salinger, Fitzgerald, Vonnegut, and Atwood. It’s the humanities, however, that teach us about what it means to be human. I think that’s a fairly significant reason to study them.
I’ve spent many years working as a distribution coordinator and project coordinator for major video and music companies (which is extremely exciting and rewarding) and have just started a slightly new career path as a project manager for MediaSauce. I still freelance and contribute to various sites, and also work as a faculty writing tutor at Uindy.
When I’m not working obsessively, you can find me pouring over my first attempt at a novel, checking out the selections at IndyReadsBooks, searching the city for mac and cheese or french fries, or going to concerts with my friends.
